Sebastian Brameshuber (b. 1981) studied stage and film design at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and film at Le Fresnoy – Studio national des arts contemporains in France. His films are rooted in documentary practice, exploring the charged relationship between historical and personal realities through a reduced cinematic language. They have been shown at festivals including Berlinale, TIFF, NYFF, Viennale, Cinéma du Réel, FIDMarseille and IDFA. In 2019, his body of work to date was presented in retrospectives at Filmarchiv Austria and Anthology Film Archives. He was awarded the Grand Prix at Cinéma du Réel for Movements of a Nearby Mountain in 2019 and London in 2026.
