Sebastian Brameshuber (b. 1981) studied stage and film design at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, and film at Le Fresnoy – Studio national des arts contemporains in France. Since 2004, his works have been regularly shown and also awarded prizes at various film and media-art festivals such as Berlinale, Viennale, Art of the Real, Cinéma du Réel, FIDMarseille, IDFA, BAFICI, Karlovy Vary IFF, Sarajevo FF, BFI London, Ann Arbor FF, Impakt Utrecht, and EXiS Seoul, among others. Following MUEZZIN in 2009 and AND THERE WE ARE, IN THE MIDDLE in 2014, his third feature-length film, MOVEMENTS OF A NEARBY MOUNTAIN, was released in 2019, for which Brameshuber was awarded the Grand Prix Cinéma du Réel 2019 in Paris, the Open City Award 2019 in London and the 3sat Documentary Film Award of the Duisburger Filmwoche 2019.
