Biography

Sebastian Brameshuber (b. 1981) studied stage and film design at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and film at Le Fresnoy – Studio national des arts contemporains in France. His films move between documentary practice and formal experimentation, centering on people and the presence of the past in the places they inhabit. They have been shown and awarded at festivals including Berlinale, Viennale, Cinéma du Réel, Art of the Real, FIDMarseille, IDFA, Karlovy Vary IFF, and BFI London, among others. In 2019, the Filmarchiv Austria and Anthology Film Archives held first retrospectives of his work. He was awarded the Grand Prix at Cinéma du Réel in 2019 and 2026.
